It’s already week four on the Invitation and Challenge. Maybe it’s time we step it up? What do you say?
I think you will find this week’s practice a challenge and a joy. Here is a helpful hint: Review the suggestion, pray about it and then make the commitment. If you don’t decide ahead of time to let God use this habit in your life, either you will not follow through, or you will just go through the motions without letting God change you. A New Trope

Matthew 3:17 – And a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, and I am fully pleased with him.”

By the time you read this, the movie Unknown will have already been in theaters (and maybe out of theaters as well).  But at the time I’m writing this, I’m still seeing trailers for it on TV.  From these trailers I gather that this movie is about a man who wakes up from a coma not knowing who or what he is.  And that idea of persons not knowing who or what they are is not a novel idea.  It’s an idea we see in countless movies and TV shows and books and media of all kinds.  In fact, this idea is so common in media that it can be called a trope, that is, a recurring, cliché, generic idea.

What Are You Doing About It?

Matthew 3:15-16 But Jesus said, “It must be done, because we must do everything that is right.” So then John baptized him. 16 After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him.

What are you doing about it?

I’ve heard a lot of people who can articulate the needs or point out the issues, but not many who commit themselves to doing what is needed to correct the problems. You know them too. People are “pointers” when they direct everyone’s attention to what is wrong, shake their heads in disgust, yet seem to be content believing that’s all they can or need to do. Unfortunately, that “pointer” can sometimes be me.
