Luke 10:1-7 – Jesus Sends Out the Seventy-Two

March 3, 2017 by Church Without Shoes

After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go. 2 And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. 3 Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. 4 Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road. 5 Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ 6 And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you. 7 And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house.

Big View: Person of Peace
Small View: Perception – Proclamation

Observation: God, there is no striving or manipulation happening here! Either You have prepared their heart to hear Your message of salvation through me or You haven’t. And when I find the person of peace You have put before me, hang out with them. You have given me the opportunity to share my life and my Jesus story with them.

Action: I have a new person of peace in my neighborhood. Lord, I commit to praying for him and his family and will both show and tell my story of salvation through Christ and Your unconditional love.

    1. The journey may be long, but sharing in the joy of the Lord makes it all worth it.
    2. Keep praying, keep being inconvenienced, keep loving, keep telling the Truth.

A lot of people here focus on the person of peace (and that is what we are commanded to do), but I know God loves the person of turmoil too, the one who won’t hear (at least not yet). I am going to pray for those people, whether they are at work, across the street, or in our nation’s capitol. May I speak the truth in love and be a humble listener when someone speaks the truth to me.

You guys are awesome! I love this “Dream Storm” series! I have many dreams, both big & small (and a notebook dedicated to them!), but the dream I’m currently most jazzed about is incnproratiog more charitable work into my business model in the new year, from doing photography projects for non-profits to raising more money for one that I choose to focus on…so exciting to see it beginning to come to life and become a reality! Keep up your AMAZING work! 🙂

OBSERVATION – Father you are showing me that when someone wants to hang out with me – share food, a drink, time together – they are someone You have prepared to hear our story.
ACTION – I have a friend who has invited me to do something with them – go to a movie or ball game. I have prayed for them many times to decide to follow you. I believe You want me to make a date with them in the next week to go to a movie and see what happens. So that’s what I will do!
