6 Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. 7 When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. 8 So they passed by Mysia and went down to Troas. 9 During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.

Observation: Paul and Silas’ perception game was strong! They were constantly listening for God’s voice and direction in their going. The Holy Spirit gave clear direction: go here, don’t go there. Following God’s voice and promptings gave them insight into who was ready to hear the Good News.
Action: In the next week, I’ll be going to the grocery store, meeting a friend for coffee, my kids will be having friends come over to play, I’ll be taking them to activities, going to the dentist, and crossing paths with my neighbors. I am going to ask God to help me to be consciously aware of his voice in my going as I interact with these everyday people. Lord, who are you sending me to? Who is ready to hear the Good News?
