Matthew 26:26-35 – Forty Hours of Prayer

March 22, 2016 by Church Without Shoes

26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”
27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 29 I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”
30 When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
31 Then Jesus told them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written:
“‘I will strike the shepherd,
and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’

32 But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”
33 Peter replied, “Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will.”
34 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.”
35 But Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” And all the other disciples said the same.

Observation: God, I’m reminded of the cost of my rebelliousness. A gift that cost You everything and yet You gave it freely with love. You say, “Drink from it, all of you.” Your gift of forgiveness and restoration to You through Christ is offered to all, even to sinners like Judas…and me.

Action: Today Lord I say thank You and will look for a person of peace to share my story of love and forgiveness with.

Dear God, Thank You isn’t nearly adequate, but it’s all I have. Thank You for rescuing me and for loving me. Thank You for giving Your all Lord and help me to give freely with love to others in response. Amen

Observation: I see that Jesus is making a covenant with me, the superior is entering relationship with the inferior and doing so at great cost.

Action: Jesus, I often feel uncertain about where I stand with You, if I am accepted and wanted. Today I will believe that the superior one who shed blood to enter into relationship with me must logically then care for me, accept me, love me, hold on to me despite my unworthiness. I will believe I am in covenant with You today.

I must not rely on my own confidence, but ask Jesus to stand by me even when I falter. Thank You, God, for such grace.

A presentation of family ,love & imperfection with sacrifice for purpose.
    Jesus knows His very ‘family'(diciples
/friends) will not stand up for him &many backs will turn away. Powerless; Jesus fellowships with His imperfect Family an doesn’t give up up….

Walking ignored& disregarded by those i’ve known& loved for so many years…can feel very empty &hopeless!
I’m powerless over the negativity &Disbelief of others, I will forgive those around me ,focus on my purpose, mindfully Trust my father’s love & prayerfully respond to my Fathers direction with followship & obiediance only; not the pressures of the “world”.
