I Too Will Love Him And Show Myself To Him

April 2, 2013 by Church Without Shoes

GOOD NEWS FOR THE JOURNEY

John 14:18-21 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.”

PERCEPTION // What I see/hear God saying/doing:
Hearing and having Your Commands is not enough. I have them memorized. I don’t doubt their legitimacy. Do I have them in my heart? And do I live them? This is the only response that proves my love for You. I want to make sure that I’m in on this love affair started by and powered by the Father and the Son. I want to be all in, I want there to be a close Family resemblance.

PLAN // What I am going to do about it:
I have been hesitating to speak the truth – in love – to someone. Brushing them off has been much easier than having an honest conversation because I expected it to go badly. But, by avoiding them, I was giving in to my fears and rationalizing my reluctance. So, I’ve made the call and will show up for this loving confrontation. I desperately need supernatural wisdom so that my concern may be redemptively expressed and received.

PRAYER // Seal the deal:
Live in me, Lord. Let Your Love move through me. Let Your Love become the open invitation to all the other long-lost orphans looking for their real Father.

I hear God saying that my obedience tells Him that I love Him, that I have the Holy Spirit to help me and that I will never be alone.
I will do my best to respond to the Holy Spirit in obedience and love.
Forgive me, Lord, for missed opportunities. Help me to listen and respond. Give me wisdom and discernment as I try to follow You more closely.
