Come And See

April 4, 2013 by Church Without Shoes

GOOD NEWS FOR THE JOURNEY

John 1:43-46 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow me.” Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote–Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip.

PERCEPTION // What I see/hear God saying/doing:
God, I hear you saying that when I follow You, the Jesus that people “Come and See” in me is a progressively accurate representation. Rather than inviting those in my village to “Come and See” the thing we’re doing on Sunday, I hear You challenging me to invite them to “Come and See” the Jesus that I follow.

PLAN // What I am going to do about it:
This week, I am going to take two action steps: (1) I am going to invite someone who loves me enough to tell me the truth, to give me some feedback on the following questions: “What does my life demonstrate about what the Jesus I follow, thinks, sounds, and acts like? What matters most to the Jesus you observe me following?” (2) I am going to invite the Person of Peace in my neighborhood to “Come and See” the Jesus I follow.

PRAYER // Seal the deal:
Father, thank You for “seeing” me. As I follow, keep transforming me such that the distance between who I am and who I am becoming, grows thinner.
