GOOD NEWS 4 SEEKERS SUNDAY
John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
PERCEPTION // What I see/hear God saying/doing:
Jesus, I hear You saying that You DON’T want to let Your life be a nice example to me, You want to be life itself to me; to shine inside me. You want to permeate every thought, word and action that pours out of me, from the time I wake up in the morning to when I put my head on my pillow at the end of each day. You want my life to be “in” You, not just in the vicinity of You
PLAN // What I am going to do about it:
I’m not so sure I have been shining for You much lately—there are so many people and places in my small town where Your light isn’t shining. This week I ask You to be in me as I “be in” my neighborhood. I want Your light to shine though me. Don’t let me retreat from those who don’t know You or go to church. This week I plan to be in the middle of those places where You aren’t commonly talked about. Building relationships at my local bar and grille or at the Safeway down the street. Don’t let me rush through these places on my way to a church meeting. I want to pause, listen and allow Your life in me to shine before others in a way that will cut through the darkness.
PRAYER // Seal the deal:
Lord, help me not to be overwhelmed by the darkness or retreat to the comfortable “light places”. Give me courage to let my life reflect Your life and light in those most uncommon places where a Christ-filled life is never seen or given an opportunity to influence. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
