GOOD NEWS 4 SEEKERS SUNDAY

John 16:8-12 When the Helper comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.

PERCEPTION // What I see/hear God saying/doing:
You, Holy Spirit, are actively exposing the error of our worldly perspective on sin, righteousness, and judgment. My perspective is often distorted through the lens of my culture.

PLAN // What I am going to do about it:
I’m asking the Holy Spirit today to reveal where I am guilty of sin; not just the big bad sin (my worldly viewpoint), but where I am bent on my own way rather than His way (my inner attitude of self-sufficiency and independence).

PRAYER // Seal the deal:
Holy Spirit, expose my sin to me today. Whatever You reveal, I’m ready to agree with You that it’s sin. Give me the courage to turn away from my independent spirit and follow You. Thank You for Your always-poised forgiveness toward me.

  1. PERCEPTION // What I see/hear God saying/doing:
What I hear the Spirit saying is that, son I love you this much, so much that I have provided a Counselor that is with me always to keep my attention. Father when Your Son Jesus ascended on high to be seated at Your right hand, even though I have received You, You have provided Your Spirit to be with me always, just because of my sin nature.
PLAN // What I am going to do about it.:
As I live life, I will slow down and examine daily what my Counselor is saying to me and from moment to moment I will repent, be joyous or just rest and be thankful of You because You have already conquered my enemy.
    PRAYER // Seal the deal.:
Father God through the power of Your Holy Spirit, help me to listen to how You are speaking to me regarding how I should act in the midst of being with my family through this grieving period for the passing of my grandfather. Counsel me so that I can truly reflect upon the impact that my grandfather's life had on my mother and her siblings, and myself. Thank You for being my guide daily. Amen.

  2. PERCEPTION // What I see/hear God saying/doing:
What I see is that when Jesus was on the earth He held up the standard for righteouseness, and He said that He would leave us Another who would keep holding up that standard in front of us to follow. He wants to convince us (convict us) of our righteousness.
PLAN // What I am going to do about it.:
When I feel less than righteous, I will stop and ask the Spirit to convince me (again) of my right standing--to help me see me as He sees me, to feel the love, and to then act accordingly.
    PRAYER // Seal the deal.:
Father, You placed all of my sin on the cross and see it no more. I am in right-standing with You at all times, but sometimes it doesn't feel that way to me. Convict me in regards to righteousness. When I am convinced of it, it calls me to up to a higher place of walking in it. Thank You for grace.

  3. PERCEPTION // What I see/hear God saying/doing:
He is available through His Holy Spirit to teach us.
PLAN // What I am going to do about it.:
I am going to focus on him more.
    PRAYER // Seal the deal.:
Lord, help me to listen constantly to your Holy Spirit.

  4. PERCEPTION // What I see/hear God saying/doing:
I hear God saying that the Holy Spirit is God's way to communicating with us. When our hearts listen our sins are exposed. Not to judge ourselves or others but to think different. To repent.
PLAN // What I am going to do about it.:
My plan is to recognize sin at its root and share this news with our youth today. Remind them that we are not judges of others, nor are we more righteous than others. But instead God challenges us to be more like Jesus.
    PRAYER // Seal the deal.:
Father, forgive me for the times I've judged others or felt my sins were less significant than theirs. Let me focus solely on my journey with you and help me be more like you. In Jesus, name, AMEN.
