Isaiah 61:1-2 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, because the LORD has appointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to announce that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. 2 He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.
The life of Jesus is more than a mystery. It was miraculously purpose driven. He starts His life in ministry after a significant season of prayer in the wilderness. At the end of His trial and overwhelming pressure from dark, demonic activity, He returned full of new motivation, inspiration and vitality. He goes into the temple in His home town. He reads a passage and announces in essence this prophecy is fulfilled right here and right now in Me. He rings the dinner bell if you will and say’s (and I’m paraphrasing), “come and get it.” The word of God is happening now. He reads Isaiah 61 but changes the ending pronoun to “Me,” first person, present. For instance, the Spirit of the Lord is on Me, … He has anointed Me… and He has sent Me.
He starts His life in ministry by announcing something that would make for great controversy, but it was true. It was time. It was fulfilled.
You may be facing “overwhelming circumstances.” You may be facing oppression of evil influences. You may be tempted to abort promises and dreams. The good news is Jesus lived on the earth in the very same gravity and breathed the very same air we breathe. He overcame the world and announced His special strength and favor. His special strength and favor is on Him to help us even now in this season. He gives good news, heals, liberates, recovers and lifts us today.
Pray this prayer: Father, in this season of my life I really need a touch from your special strength and favor. My trust is in you. My hope is in you. My thoughts are on you today, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
