Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” Wow, do you get that? He stops for the lowliest of all of us, a beggar, one who was helpless. How often have we felt that same way when life’s challenges are bigger than we are. So often I tell people that they will receive strength when they can finally and honestly say “God, this is bigger than I am, but nothing is to big (or small) for You. Please, You take it.”
I do not think this beggar ever felt that he could solve his blindness himself. But the faith he had in Jesus was never in question. In fact, it seems as if the beggar was absolutely certain Jesus was the only chance he had. Have you ever noticed that we only really turn to Him after the forehead is getting a little bloody?
It is our faith that heals us, maybe not from our physical ailments (Who knows why or who God heals in this way), but He always heals us from the pain of doubt, guilt and even fear. He is sure to do this once we put in place the unshakable faith of the beggar.
Lord, increase my faith so that I can be as doubtless as the beggar. Guide me today in the truth of your presence in my life. In Jesus’ Name – Amen
