The iLent Project, is a forty day interactive adventure of the Spirit from the Word to the World, uniting 21c Jesus followers with the faith journey of the historic Church.

Church Without Shoes is Christ’s Church united in love and service in our community. The name refers to what some Christ honoring pastors in the Diablo Valley are doing. These pastors and churches, are committing themselves to work together to better serve God and serve people. Church without shoes recalls the servant model of Jesus. On the night He was betrayed, He removed the disciple’s shoes, Judas’ (John 13). He washed their feet and charged them to serve in the world in the same way. When we serve God and people together this way, discipleship becomes worship as we become an affirming “Yes” to Jesus’ prayer and plan in John 17:-21 (NLT): My prayer for all of them is that they will be one, just as you and I are one, Father–that just as you are in me and I am in you, so they will be in us, and the world will believe you sent me.

Spiritual growth happens best for those who make specific commitments. Everyone however is not the same, though created in the image of God we are each unique. The idea of iLent is to journey through the bible’s gospel stories as they lead us over and over to engage the primary subject of the Gospels, Jesus of Nazareth. Each day of the lenten journey you will be challenged to consider His mission, message, passion and promise for your life with God and the local and global community we live in.

In there iLent pages are daily appointments in the scriptures accompanied by reflections by more than 30 senior leaders of local churches and ministries from 20+ denominational perspectives. As intriguing as the diversity is, the most compelling thing is their common faith in the risen Christ.

The daily devotions are the core of iLent and yet because we are unique individuals we learn and grow through different means. So iLent invites you to choose your own path through the days of Lent with multiple avenues of commitments and relationships from small groups to YouTube, movies to disciplines and specific iLent community events like 40 hours of Prayer, Our Beautiful Day and Community Wide Maundy Thursday Communion. Our greatest hope will be for you to grow closer to Jesus and live out His mission and passion for you in your community.
